Como se podrán haber dado cuenta, a mí me gustan muchísimos géneros de música, pero cuando alguien me pregunta cual en realidad es mi música favorita, puedo responder sin vacilar: El Gran Cancionero Americano.

El Gran Cancionero Americano es un grupo de canciones populares y los estándares de jazz estadounidenses más importantes e influyentes de principios del siglo XX, que han perdurado a lo largo del tiempo. Conocidos a menudo como “American Standards”, las canciones publicadas durante la Edad de Oro de este género incluyen melodías populares y perdurables de las décadas de 1920 a 1950, creadas para los musicales de Broadway y Hollywood. En los últimos años el concepto se ha expandido para cubrir canciones compuestas antes de lo 20s y con frecuencia también incluye temas escritos en los años 60s. Estos temas han sido interpretados por miles de artistas alrededor del mundo en un sin número de idiomas.

Esta colección incluye mas de 1600 temas. Este primer volumen cubre las canciones de los primeros años del siglo XX, hasta 1930.
