‘Cynthia que?’ Ya los puedo oír decir. Pues bien, el nombre de Cynthia Weil puede que no les suene tan familiar como el de muchos otros compositores de su generación (Bacharach, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, por nombrar solo algunos) pero estoy seguro de que han escuchado no una, sino muchas de sus canciones, la mayoría de las cuales escribió con Barry Mann, su esposo durante 62 años. Canciones que han sido grabadas por miles de cantantes alrededor del mundo. Esta compositora prolífica y versátil falleció el 1 de Junio 2023, a los 82 años de edad, pero nos dejó una obra increíble.
